If you still have these 10 things in your bathroom, it’s time to clear them out!
Your bathroom should be your safe haven where you can feel relaxed as you go about your business.
But sometimes, because of the clutter inside the countertop, we do not really like staying in there for quite a long time. Like any other room or space in the house, it is easy for things to pile up in the bathroom, especially when you do not really mind what you put in there.
1. Guest Towels
Unless you have people coming over on a regular basis, you can try to limit the towels you place in the bathroom. Those that you do not have a regular use for, you can place in storage bins or containers in a cabinet nearby or even in the bedroom.
2. Cosmetics
All makeup products and tools should be stored in a designated cool and dry place, away from moisture. That means you definitely should not store your makeup in the bathroom.
3. Makeup brushes
Similar to cosmetics, we usually buy brushes in sets but use only 2 or 3 out of those 10 brushes we bought in the set. And in the same way, if you do not wear makeup in the bathroom, there is no need for you to store your brushes in there. Free up your countertop and place them in the vanity in the bedroom instead.
4. Skin care products
Sometimes you can get carried away in buying skin care products and would like to try a myriad of brands and types. And because you have a lot of them, chances are, you can forget if they are still good for you to use. Try to check your inventory periodically and keep the ones you actually use. Discard those that are beyond their expiration date too to free up the space on your bathroom countertop.
5. Hair products
Like skin care products, sometimes you would like to try different brands that promise wonders for your hair. But more often than not, they just end up as adding to the clutter in the bathroom. Limit the contents on your bathroom counter to the ones that you use on a regular basis and discard or give away those that do not really work for you.
6. Medication
Medication should always be stored in a cool, dry place and it is not really recommended to be stored in the bathroom as steam and humidity can have an effect on them. As much as possible, maintain a medicine kit/cabinet that is situated in a manageable place, but out of the reach of children.
7. Beauty Appliances
If you can, try to limit the appliances you have in the bathroom to probably your hair dryer or heater. Place other beauty appliances in the bedroom, perhaps in your vanity table to give more space in the bathroom. You can also lessen the chances of accidents when you have less appliances in the bathroom where it gets wet most of the time.
8. Decorations
Yes, it may be nice to have decorations in your bathroom. But try to ask yourself, do these things really accentuate your bathroom or do they just add to the clutter and make the room look cramped?
9. Perfumes/Cologne
Although perfumes and colognes last for around 3 -5 years when properly kept, it is not really advised to keep them inside the bathroom as the steam and heat can affect the perfumes/cologne’s shelf life. Similar with medications, it is best to store them in a cool, dry place, away from moisture.
10. Bath Toys
When you have kids, bath time really becomes more fun when you have toys around. But try to check from time to time if these toys are still used regularly. Try to remove them from the bathroom if they are no longer in use to prevent mold and mildew to grow on them. Use bath caddies to store them in vertical spaces rather than on the floor or the tub.
These are some of the things that you can do away without in your bathroom to help keep it clean and orderly. Make sure you check the items in your bathroom from time to time to make decluttering a habit. Feel free to visit Home Makeover HK for more organization ideas.
