Declutter Your Way to a Peaceful & Relaxing Bedroom
Keep your bedroom a relaxing and calming place for you.
Don’t you look forward to retreating to your bedroom at the end of a long and tiring day? After having so much to do in a day, all you’d want to do is to crawl into your bed and sink yourself in your sheets. But before you are able to drift off to dreamland, some things catch your eye – your messy bedside table, the dirty clothes strewn on the floor, your jam-packed cabinet! You immediately start to think about what you have to do about it and poof! There goes your relaxing sleep! Spare yourself the trouble of worrying over these things with these tips to get you started.
1. Make decluttering a habit!
Like any other part of the house, things can accumulate over time if you do not make decluttering a part of your routine. Decluttering the bedroom allows you to put away things that you no longer need and that take too much space. The more you declutter, the easier it is for you to identify which things to keep and which things to dispose of.
2. Swap out seasonal clothing
The bedroom is one room that can house a number of bulky items, such as towels, bedsheets, comforters and even your seasonal clothes. Because these things do not need to be within reach at all times, you can store these items in vacuum bags or containers and place them in compartments under the bed or on top of your cabinets. In this way, you have access to them when you need them without them getting in your way too much.
3. Regularly check the items in your nightstand
Similar to cosmetics, we usually buy brushes in sets but use only 2 or 3 out of those 10 brushes we bought in the set. And in the same way, if you do not wear makeup in the bathroom, there is no need for you to store your brushes in there. Free up your countertop and place them in the vanity in the bedroom instead.
4. Contain
Try using trays, bowls or containers to carry your stuff. Small things when cluttered together can really appear messy and disorganized. Put your things in designated trays and containers for a more orderly area. You can also save time when looking for your things, like your earrings, keys or even cosmetics.
5. Be intentional with your furniture
Use furniture that can serve dual functions, like an ottoman with storage, a bed with shelves at the bottom or a cabinet at the foot of the bed that can function as a sofa too. You can save up precious space in the bedroom and give you more places to store your stuff.
6. Don’t keep all the pillows you don’t need
Count how many pillows you have on your bed before you go to sleep at night and then count how many pillows are actually on the bed when you wake up in the morning. Chances are, if you have too much stuff on the bed, most of them will be lying on the floor in the morning! It would also take more time for you to pick them and organize them back on the bed every time. Save yourself the trouble and try to keep just enough pillows. There will be more leg room for you and less things to pick up in the morning.
7. Find a home for everything
Have a designated place for everything in the bedroom – where you should put your trash, your dirty clothes, your clothes for the next day. And make it a habit to return things to their proper places. It will be more efficient to know where to look for things when you need them and also easier for you to keep things in proper order.
There you have it, some things to remember to maintain order in your bedroom. Keeping these tips in mind which you can also access from Home Makeover HK’s website can surely help you get that calming and relaxing vibe whenever you get into bed at night. Sweet dreams!
